As far as emotions and mental health are concerned, Demo Taped has been an open book, sharing his own experiences in his alternative, electronic productions. Two months back, the 18-year-old Atlanta native shared ‘Insecure’, and this week he follows with ‘Pack Of Gum’, a track inspired by heartbreak, anxiety and, indeed, a pack of gum. As the 300 Entertainment signee explains: “It’s about not wanting to be forgotten by someone you love. It’s called 'Pack of Gum' because when my anxiety was at its peak, it affected me physically. Sometimes I would get sick and so I resorted to carrying around a pack of gum at all times."​ The sharp, modulated synths act like the musician’s anxiety levels, dipping and falling through the song, while his vocals keep a calm composure in tone, they lyrics are filled with feelings of “a desperate mood.” At times, ‘Pack Of Gum’ sounds chaotic and disjointed, messy even, but each layer is a little slice of emotion, reflecting the far-from-tidy human condition. - HT
